At Project Food we are passionate about supporting people to access more nutritious food as we know what a difference it makes to how people feel.
For some people, the cost of fruit and vegetables and other healthier food is beyond their reach. Other people lack the skills or confidence to cook or to know what to eat. And for others, who might be struggling with mental health problems or feelings of low self-esteem, the thought of cooking is just too much to cope with.
Project Food is a leading food charity in Devon, Dorset and Somerset with high aspirations. Established as a charity in 2006, (then called Health and Local Food for Families (HALFF)), we re-registered with the Charity Commission as a CIO in 2017. In 2020 we changed our name to Project Food as it better reflects what we do. The original unincorporated charity (HALFF) is no longer active, but the knowledge, resources and extensive expertise in supporting people to improve their diets that we gained from those original 11 years have been transferred to the CIO.
What people eat and why, is complicated. Our unique approach of looking at an individual’s needs and tailoring support just for them, has been shown to work, time and time again.
