On Friday, March 14th, Woodlands Hotel hosted a memorable wine tasting evening, bringing together wine enthusiasts and community members for a great cause. The event was organized to raise funds for Project Food, a local initiative dedicated to addressing food insecurity and promoting healthy eating habits.
As guests arrived at the elegant Woodlands Hotel, they were greeted with a selection of local soft drinks, juices, and an array of delicious canapés. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for an evening of indulgence and philanthropy.
The highlight of the evening was the guided wine tasting session, expertly led by Mike Huskins, Managing Director of Husky Wines and Director of Dalwood Vineyard. During the event, attendees had the opportunity to sample 8 carefully selected wines. These included both local varieties and, additionally, imported selections. Mike’s extensive knowledge and passion for wine shone through as he shared insights into the unique characteristics and stories behind each bottle.
The hotel’s chef meticulously prepared a sumptuous charcuterie and cheese board to complement the wine tasting. Guests savoured the delightful culinary experience created by the pairing of fine wines with artisanal cheeses and cured meats. The dessert wine was accompanied by delicious brigadeiros, a traditional Brazilian treat made by one of Project Food’s volunteers.
Local businesses generously donated an array of prizes for the raffle and auction, adding to the excitement of the evening. The raffle and auction not only provided entertainment but also contributed significantly to the fundraising efforts for Project Food.
The wine tasting evening at Woodlands Hotel was a resounding success, combining the pleasures of fine wine and gourmet food with the spirit of community and charity. The funds raised during the event will undoubtedly go a long way in supporting Project Food’s mission. Specifically, they will help combat food insecurity and, moreover, promote healthy living in the local community.
These events highlight the power of community and show the impact people can make when they come together for a common cause. If you missed this event, keep an eye out for future fundraisers and community gatherings at Woodlands Hotel. Your participation and support can make a difference.
